Two posts back-to-back? Shocking, I know! I realized how long overdue this post is, and have been promising so many people that I’d get photos to them over the past few months – so here it is, friends :) – and plus, I was getting some crazy beautiful lighting today, so I couldn’t resist. Also, please excuse the fact that these aren’t super professional :\
It’s crazy to think how 8 months have already passed since we moved into our apartment – and then again, not as crazy. It feels like we’ve only been here for a short amount of time, but also like it’s always been our home… strange, I know! It has been such a blessing to live in this place, as the location is unmatched – we’re literally right in the heart of Melbourne, just a stone’s throw to our church, Federation Square, Flinders Street Station and Degraves Street (one of the most popular laneways in Melbourne).
I would say about 99% of what is pictured has been purchased here in Australia, which was also fun for us because we were able to decorate together, whereas our home back in the U.S. after getting married was more of a combination of stuff we accumulated individually. We were able to pick out our furniture together (yay IKEA!), pick color schemes (the more color/patterns, the better!) and decide on layouts. Anyway, I’m blabbing, but we hope you enjoy our apartment tour! :)
I adore these large original windows. Our ceilings are high, but the windows make them seem even higher!
Where all our work gets done! And lots of yummy meals and laughs are shared. :)
By far, our favorite purchase EVER. It is the most comfortable couch on the entire planet, and feels like a bed! We LOVE it. (couch: IKEA; pillows: H&M)
Ah, I just love this bookshelf/makeshift TV stand. We watch all our shows online/on Netflix, so we’ll get a TV at some stage… possibly, ha!
I don’t like when modems/cords get all jumbled up with TV stands/shelves/counters so we dedicated one side table to it, and it really helps to keep everything organized. We also love our ‘Big Bang Theory’ phone (Sheldon & Leonard have one just like it)!
I just LOVE that Virginia-shaped cutting board. My best friend bought it for us, and we display it very proudly on our counter :) — thanks, Em!
We have SO much storage (most of which we can’t even reach because of how ridiculously tall our cabinets are!) but it is such a blessing to have that much space to put away our suitcases/stuff.
Our little garden: rosemary plant + two succulents.
One of the things we had to bring from home was our comforter cover – gifted to us from my mom for our wedding. It’s so BRIGHT and we love it.
There is a built-in trundle bed so if we ever have any guests, they can crash on it! My mom preferred our couch (I’m telling you – it’s the BEST, lol!)
The view from our bedroom area (you can hop from the platform to the couch – but don’t try this at home, kids!)
Looking down our hallway – check out that storage space!! Love it. (that black thing hanging on the wall are our umbrellas – so we never forget to grab one before leaving the house, #melbourneproblems)
Our bathroom! We wanted to keep it bright and fun in here too. I adore our shower – perfect water pressure!! (mat: Kas; bath towel: H&M)
Our washer and dryer photobombing! We have a good amount of storage space in our bathroom too – so thankful! (hamper/cup: H&M; storage basket: Typo; mat: Kas)
View from the hallway
And that’s it! We often joke when we have people over: “Would you like a full tour?!” We love our home; we’ve made it into our little sanctuary and we really enjoy it :) It’s crazy that in a few months, we’ll be moving out and finding our new home, but like my mom always says, “Home is where the heart is”, and wherever we go together, it will always feel like home. :) thanks for letting us share this with you all!
